No Pain, No Gain

There have been many times in my life where it's been painful to take photos.  Sometimes it's because it's negative ten degrees out, or I have to contort my body into an uncomfortable position for a few minutes to get the right angle at the perfect moment, but most of the time it's because it hurts too much to see what's in front of me, and not be able to express exactly what I want to about it.  But shooting with my camera is the closest way to expressing and remembering the sheer beauty I see around me than anything else I've tried.

So I decided a couple weeks ago to head out to the mountains one more time before Brian and I head back to the states, to make sure I didn't regret going out at least once with the sole intention of getting some good photos.  These mountains are some of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, which made for an incredibly painful shoot.  But hey - no pain, no gain.

City of Dreams

Our time in Calgary is coming to a close.  A few more weeks and we'll be moving on to new places - where?  Who knows.  But what I do know is that I'm incredibly grateful for the time we've had here.  It's been an amazing city for us, and has allowed me to grow in so many ways.  I was happy to get out last weekend and get some shots of the skyline before it was too late.  And I was lucky enough to have a supporting husband who was willing to drive me around to wherever I wanted in the -15 degree F weather (thanks, Brian!!).
